Prof. Cecilia CHAN Lai-wan is Professor Emeritus of The University of Hong Kong; JCECC Advisor; Fellows of Association of Oncology Social Workers, Hong Kong Academic of Social Work, and Hong Kong Professional Counseling Association. Prof. CHAN is a pioneer in promotion of community health and mental health in Hong Kong, including contributing to the establishment of the Community Rehabilitation Network and Hospital Patients Resource Centers. She creatively incorporated Eastern philosophies and Traditional Chinese Medicine practices into her patient Integrative Body-Mind-Spirit (IBMS) empowerment programs, especially in the area of psychosocial oncology, palliative care, and bereavement support, and developed physiological outcomes (cortisol, telomerase) to her non-pharmaceutical interventions.
